Overview
The Head of IT Service Delivery is responsible for ensuring that technology solutions are delivered reliably, efficiently, and in direct alignment with business priorities. This role owns the front half of the IT delivery lifecycle, acting as the critical bridge between business and IT to ensure requirements are clearly understood, accurately defined, thoroughly tested, and delivered with quality. The position plays a strategic role in governance, delivery assurance, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that initiatives support organisational objectives while maintaining stability, compliance, and execution excellence.
Responsibilities
- Act as senior liaison between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams
- Engage executive stakeholders and department heads to align delivery outcomes
- Translate business problems into structured, actionable delivery requirements
- Manage delivery expectations, scope, and priorities
- Own governance across business analysis and quality assurance functions
- Ensure initiatives are delivered on time and within approved scope
- Monitor delivery health and proactively intervene when risks arise
- Lead and develop the Business Analysis function
- Ensure high-quality requirements, documentation, and traceability from business needs to system solutions
- Define and implement testing strategies across initiatives
- Oversee test execution, defect management, and quality assurance processes
- Ensure formal quality sign-off prior to production release
- Oversee delivery across multiple IT initiatives
- Align delivery priorities with capacity planning and release schedules
- Drive continuous improvement in analysis and testing efficiency
- Increase speed-to-market while maintaining system stability
- Lead, recruit, mentor, and manage Business Analysts and QA team members
- Build and sustain a high-performing IT delivery culture
- Identify delivery risks early and ensure mitigation plans are in place
- Ensure alignment with regulatory, governance, and compliance standards
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience within financial services, fintech, or micro-finance environments
- Strong background across business analysis, quality assurance, and full SDLC delivery
- Proven experience leading and managing professional teams
Qualifications
- Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology or a related field
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies
